Medicinska kemija se, kao vrlo važna grana kemije, bavi pronalaskom i dizajnom novih terapeutskih sredstava, od kojih su neka dokazano od velike važnosti u medicini. Heterociklički spojevi imaju vrlo važnu ulogu u medicinskoj kemiji zbog svog izraženog biološkog djelovanja. Heterociklički čalkoni, kao vrlo važna skupina heterocikličkih spojeva, pokazuju široki spektar bioloških aktivnosti, uključujući antimikrobnu, antituberkuloznu, antivirusnu, antikancerogenu, antimalarijsku, antioksidacijsku, itd., gdje se osobito ističu fluorirani heteroderivati. Fluorirani spojevi imaju važnu ulogu u medicinskoj kemiji, a valja posebno istaknuti ciprofloksacin, ofloksacin i norfloksacin. Stoga je cilj ovog projekta sinteza različitih fluoriranih heterocikličikih spoijeva s potencijalnom antioksidacijskom i antimikrobnom aktivnošću.

“Medicinal chemistry” is the important branch of chemistry which deals with the discovery and design of new therapeutic agents which leads to the new entities having medicinal importance. Heterocyclic compounds have definite role in medicinal chemistry because they are well known for their biological activities in chemical and biology field. Chalcone based heterocyclic compounds, represent one of the most important classes of heterocyclic compounds and have special attraction due to their considerable biological activities such as antimicrobial, anti tuberculosis, antiviral, anticancer, antimalarial, antioxi-dant, etc. Particularly, fluorinated hetero derivatives show truly promising results in drugs field. Therefore, the synthesis of fluorinated molecules has played an important role in drug discovery and many of pharmaceuticals. Ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin and norfloxacin are well known examples of the same. In this project, we proposed to synthesize fluorinated different heterocylic scaffold and screen the same for their antioxidant and antimicrobial activities.
